Cato Powell

Cato is a major character in Underground and one of the "Macon 7". He gathers feeling for Rosalee, who later dismisses them. After being known as a "white man in dark skin" it is apparent that he wanted to get away from his "home" and thereby ran away. Once away, he had been left for dead with arrows in his leg. Later when recovered, he meets a British-Indian woman who becomes his love interest and anchor. She allows him to become the man through the monster.
